On February 7, we went to see the Asheville- native, Caribbean and West African-inspired band Toubab Krewe. Toubab means "white person" in Bambara (we know this thanks to Katie C.) and Krewe means "group of people" close to our word "crew." Their music is purely instrumental (no lyrics) and you can hear some songs on their website, www.toubabkrewe.com. They played at Neighborhood Theatre in the NoDa neighborhood in Charlotte. We really had a great time- I know that I gained so much appreciation for their music after seeing them perform. We caught the end of their drum circle encore which you can see in this video.
